Charity Event for Epilepsy Foundation

CFT Films, Myko Designs, and Carbonite Detailing proudly join together with Exotics by the Bay to host a charity event for the Epilepsy Foundation. To expand awareness of the fourth most common neurological disorder that affects people of all ages.

It is the wee hours of the morning and preparations are already bustling to set up an event that will draw 200-300 people to see super exotic cars in Burlingame, CA. Admission a mere $5 for free coffee, donuts, and the forum to talk about beautiful high performance cars and the mods done to them for the great cause of fundraising for the Epilepsy Foundation. CFT Films proudly provides a majority of the exotics with a surface protection film that protects vehicles’ paint from swirl marks, scratches, and rock chips. Nearly invisible to the eye, all that remains to be seen is the beastly beauties in raw form.

A special thanks to Myko Designs and team for wrapping the vehicles with a custom application that tucks and wraps all edges of CFT’s Film into the car’s panel crevices making seams vanish. A feat not easily done. Many installers offer the same wraps, but do so with pre-cut kits that have multiple pieces and fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. While pre-cut kits do protect the panels, the butted seams can be an eye-sore to clients of a discerning eye. Additionally, edges and butted seams can collect wax build-up and dirt which can stand out. Myko Design’s master installer, Michael Ong, lays custom applications in one piece letting the visually appealing exotic car be the only thing clients see.

And what exotic could be wrapped without first being prepped by a master detailer and paint correction specialist. Ian Osgood with Carbonite Detailing masterfully sets the stage for each wrap by first prepping the vehicles’ paint surfaces with skill, a wash with high quality products, polishing, and cleaning every square inch of the car from the roof and under carriage to removing wheels to cleaning the spokes from the back side of the rim. Once prepped, Myko Designs installs with CFT’s Film and Carbonite finishes the job with a sealant, wax, and ceramic coating for the film’s surface. The trifecta of services leaves every vehicle ready to win a concourse de’ elegance event for beauty and prestige.

The reason for the joint efforts of these 3 noteworthy companies is to inspire and bring together car enthusiasts to support the Epilepsy Foundation. But what exactly is Epilepsy?

Epilepsy means the same thing as “seizure disorders.”
Epilepsy is characterized by unpredictable seizures and can cause other health problems.
Epilepsy is a spectrum condition with a wide range of seizure types and control varying from person-to-person.
Public misunderstandings of epilepsy cause challenges that are often worse than the seizures.

While seizures are at the core of the disorder, awareness is just as much a challenge to the cause as is research, therapies, education, and advocacy. The light of knowledge for this noble charity begins here.

The Epilepsy Foundation’s mission is funded through the generous gifts of individual donors and many partner organizations, including corporations and corporate foundations, member organizations, and both state and federal government agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Generous donors have the right to know how their dollars are invested in the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) Wise Giving Alliance dictates that nonprofit organizations should spend at least 65% of their total expenses on programs, research, and services, and no more than 35% on fundraising.

As shown in the graph, the Epilepsy Foundation is proud to report that they are well within those limits. In fact, 83% of every dollar is used to fund research into new therapies, education, awareness, and advocacy efforts.

A big thank you to all who came out and supported the event. With your help we raised several thousand dollars to aid those afflicted with Epilepsy.
